Cong doesn't want resolution of Ram temple issue: Modi
New Delhi, Jan 12: Taking on the Congress over the Ram temple issue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the opposition party was trying to impede the judicial process for resolution of the matter.
He also asked BJP workers to remind the masses about the Congress' stand on the issue.
In his concluding address at the BJP national convention here, Modi briefly touched on the Ram temple issue, drawing cheers from thousands of party workers gathered at Ramlila Maidan, but remained confined to targeting the Congress.
"In the Ayodhya issue, the Congress is trying to impede the judicial process through its lawyers. The Congress does not want resolution of the Ayodhya issue," Modi said.
"We should not forget its attitude and (also) not let others forget it," he told party workers.
He was apparently referring to remarks of senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal who had said that the Supreme Court should hear the matter after conclusion of general elections this year.
Sibal is representing one of the litigants in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case.
Modi alleged that the Congress even tried to impeach former chief justice of India, Dipak Misra, to delay the hearing in the case.
Earlier this month, the prime minister had said that any decision on passing an executive order on the Ram temple issue cannot be made unless the judicial process is over.
His reaction came amid growing clamour by right-wing organisations like RSS and VHP to bring an ordinance to construct the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The matter is pending in the Supreme Court and is scheduled to come up for hearing on January 29.

Man in Belagavi arrested for murdering 15-day-old daughter by feeding poison
Belagavi: In a murder case reported from Ukkada village of the taluk, a 28-year-old man was held by Kakathi Police on charges of poisoning his 15-day-old daughter, apparently on learning that the infant was female.
The arrested man, Bhimaraya Banappa Chippadi, is said to be a resident of Bhootaramanahatti. He was held by Kakathi Police following an investigation into a case registered against him based on a complaint filed by his wife, Sheela Chippadi, who has accused him of murdering their infant, Priyanka.
Police sources have said that Chippadi was unhappy that his wife Sheela had delivered a female child and had been pressurizing her to leave the infant at her paternal home and return alone.
On Tuesday, March 17 afternoon, Chippadi allegedly poisoned his daughter Priyanka when his wife and child were asleep. A primary investigation has revealed that the accused applied the poison to the opening of a bottle and fed it to the infant.
Chippadi reportedly escaped from the spot after poisoning his daughter.
When his wife Sheela woke up, she noticed the infant foaming at the mouth and immediately took the child to the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) Hospital, but doctors declared Priyanka dead, sources said. The doctors have reportedly suspected that the infant was fed a pesticide used on cotton crops.
Kakathi Police, who registered a case against Chippadi, probed the matter and tracked him down on Friday, March 20.
Chippadi, who was produced before the court, has been sent to judicial custody and is currently lodged in Hindalga jail.
