New Delhi: The Congress called Shashi Tharoor, who lost the party’s presidential poll on Wednesday, double-faced, after Tharoor made allegations of serious irregularities in the poll.

Madhusudhan Mistry, election in-charge of the Congress, expressed dissatisfaction with Tharoor’s team, saying the team accepted the answers given by the election in-charge but made allegations against him before the media, NDTV reported.

The election to the post of Congress president was held on Wednesday, with Mallikarjun Kharge defeating Tharoor.

During the counting, however, Concerns had been raised by Tharoor during the election, that the treatment of the candidates was vastly different.

Tharoor’s election agent Salman Soz wrote to Mistry that disturbing facts were found in the process in Uttar Pradesh. A demand was also made for a cancellation of the votes from the state. While Tharoor is said to have expressed regret at a personal letter being leaked and asked for a sidelining of the demand, the Congress retorted sharply.

“We accommodated your request, yet you alleged before the media that the election in-charge was conspiring against you,” said Mistry.

“You created an impression that the entire exercise was unfair, making a mountain out of a molehill,” Mistry accused Tharoor.
