New Delhi: The Indian National Congress on Tuesday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for trailing in his own constituency, Varanasi, during the initial rounds of vote counting in the Lok Sabha elections.

Jairam Ramesh, Congress Media In-Charge, remarked that PM Modi's lagging performance in Varanasi serves as a "trailer"—a term frequently used by Modi during his election campaign to suggest that the achievements of his two terms were just a preview of what was to come.

"PM Modi trailing in his own constituency is just a trailer of what’s in store," said Ramesh, highlighting the irony of Modi’s own rhetoric being used against him. During his campaign, Modi had often stated that his previous terms were merely a glimpse of the future benefits and progress his leadership would bring to the country.

The comment comes as the nation closely monitors the counting process, with early trends indicating a significant shift in voter sentiment. Congress leaders have been quick to capitalize on these trends, using them to bolster their narrative against the BJP and its leadership.
