Delhi Police deny claims of missing juvenile in Uttam Nagar Holi killing case
New Delhi: Delhi Police have denied allegations made by the family of a juvenile accused in the Uttam Nagar Holi killing case that the 14-year-old boy had gone missing after being taken from a hospital.
According to a report by The Observer Post, police issued a statement on Monday rejecting the claims. “Rizwan is one of the main accused who was apprehended and has been sent to Observation Home by the Juvenile Justice Board. The reports of him missing are baseless and completely untrue,” the statement said.
The allegation about the boy going missing was made by Shahin Rangrez Chouhan, a relative of the accused. She claimed that the minor had sustained serious head injuries during a clash on the night of March 4 and was admitted to World Brain Hospital on Dabri Road for treatment.
She further alleged that the family was pressured to discharge him from the hospital in the early hours. According to the family, the boy was later taken away by unidentified persons in a vehicle. The relatives also claimed that when they attempted to lodge a complaint at a police station regarding the incident, they were not allowed to do so.
Police, however, rejected these claims and said the minor had been formally apprehended in connection with the case and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.
According to police, the board directed that the boy be sent to an Observation Home under the provisions applicable to children in conflict with the law. Officials added that none of the juvenile accused in the case are missing or unaccounted for.

Bhambri-Goransson pair reaches Indian Wells quarterfinals
Indian Wells (USA) (PTI): India's top doubles player Yuki Bhambri and his partner Goran Goransson advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's doubles event at the Indian Wells Masters after registering a straight-set win over the pair of Sander Arends and Jiri Lehecka.
Bhambri and Goransson produced a solid performance to defeat Arends and Lehecka 6-4 6-4 in the pre-quarterfinal clash that lasted one hour and 14 minutes. They did not face any break point in the match and broke their rivals twice.
The Indo-Swedish pair maintained control through most of the match, securing a crucial break in each set to seal the contest in straight sets.
Bhambri and Göransson will take on Alexander Erler of Austria and Andrea Vavassori from Italy in the last-eight stage of the prestigious ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
