New Delhi: The Women and Child Development (WCD) Department of Delhi has issued a public notice clarifying that the Delhi government has not notified any scheme named 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana'. The statement was released following media reports and social media posts claiming the existence of the scheme, under which Rs 2,100 would be provided monthly to women in Delhi.
The notice, published in national newspapers, emphasized that no such scheme has been approved or implemented by the government. It further warned the public against fraudulent activities, stating: "Any private person or political party collecting forms or information for this non-existent scheme is committing fraud and has no authority to do so."
The clarification comes days after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a "registration drive" for the scheme. Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his successor Atishi had promised to enhance the scheme's allowance from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,100 if the party returned to power.
The BJP criticised AAP's claims, with BJP MP Yogender Chandolia calling the scheme fake and urging legal action against those promoting it. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya accused Kejriwal of making false announcements and neglecting existing welfare programmes like Ayushman Bharat.
In response, Kejriwal alleged political vendetta, claiming that BJP plans to arrest Atishi on fabricated charges.
