Shivamogga: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has imposed a fine of ₹20 lakh on the Karnataka State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KSIIDC), the operator of Shivamogga Airport, for failing to meet aerodrome standards.
The penalty follows an inspection conducted by the DGCA at Shivamogga Airport in July. After the inspection, a notice was issued to KSIIDC in August, to which the corporation responded. However, the DGCA found the response unsatisfactory, citing safety concerns and failure to maintain the airport in compliance with regulations. As a result, the aviation regulator decided to impose the penalty on KSIIDC.
The DGCA's report highlighted several lapses in airport maintenance that could have potentially affected flight operations, leading to this disciplinary action.
