Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP leader CT Ravi on Saturday claimed that there was a threat to his life, stating that the Congress government in the state would have to take "responsibility" if anything happened to him.

"I still have a life threat, that's why I am asking the government to provide me adequate support. If something happens to me, the government will have to take responsibility. DK Shivakumar and Laxmi Hebbalkar planned something which will be a threat to me," Ravi told news agency ANI.

In response to Ravi's claim that his life was under threat and that the government was responsible, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had earlier stated, "All offenders make such claims. If that were the case, no one could be prosecuted."

Ravi secured bail from the Karnataka High Court after the saffron party leader was arrested in a case related to alleged derogatory comments against minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.

He has denied the allegation calling it "false".

Meanwhile, the Karnataka State Women’s Commission has urged state Legislative Council chairperson Basavaraj Horatti to order a high-level inquiry into the alleged use of derogatory remarks by Ravi against Hebbalkar inside the House on December 19.
