Guwahati, Sep 12 : An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale shook Guwahati and its adjoining areas on Wednesday, the Met said. No damage was reported.
The quake occurred at a depth of 13 km around 10.20 a.m. with its epicentre in Kokrajhar district, the India Meteorological Department said.
An Assam State Disaster Management Authority official said there was no report of any major damage from anywhere in the state so far.

Mangaluru: Fourteen Rama Sena activists, including their leader Prasad Attavar, have been remanded to two weeks of judicial custody following their involvement in the vandalism of Colors Unisex Salon near Bejai here on Thursday.
The activists reportedly stormed into the salon, alleging that immoral activities were taking place on the premises. They caused significant damage by breaking furniture, while also assaulting, insulting, and verbally abusing the staff before fleeing the scene.

Barke police arrested all 14 individuals, including Prasad Attavar. Following their arrest, the accused were presented before the court on Friday, and the court issued a judicial custody to the accused.
