Mainpuri: A 60-year-old woman, Pravesh Kumari, died of a heart attack after allegedly being left untreated for nearly 15 minutes in the emergency ward of Mainpuri District Hospital. Her family accused the on-duty doctor, Dr Adarsh Sengar, of ignoring their repeated pleas for medical attention while watching videos on his mobile phone.
Kumari was brought to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon. Her relatives claimed that instead of personally examining her, Dr Sengar instructed a nurse to handle the situation. Despite their repeated requests, the doctor allegedly remained engrossed in his phone.
As Kumari’s condition worsened, her son and other family members urged the doctor to intervene. When she started coughing blood and later died on the hospital stretcher, her son protested. In the ensuing altercation, Dr Sengar allegedly slapped him, causing chaos in the hospital.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, further fuelling public anger. CCTV footage reportedly shows the doctor sitting at his desk, watching reels while nurses attended to the patient. The footage also allegedly captures the moment when the doctor slapped the deceased's son.
Following the incident, hospital authorities launched an investigation. Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Madan Lal confirmed that senior officials have been informed, and strict action will be taken if negligence is established.
