A family in Pune was subjected to a brutal attack after they objected to the installation of a DJ setup and loud music outside their house during the Ganesh Visarjan procession. The victims, identified as Sunil Prabhakar Shinde and his family, were mourning the recent death of their son when the altercation occurred.
The incident unfolded on Monday, September 25, when the family objected to the loud music from speakers placed outside their home during the religious procession. Sunil Prabhakar Shinde, the father, filed a complaint with the police after his family members, including his brother, mother, father, and driver, were attacked by the mob.
Following the complaint, the police took action and arrested 21 individuals allegedly involved in the attack. The accused have been identified as Sunil Rajput, Mukesh Rajput, Ravi Rajput, Sunny Rajput, Praveen Rajput, Akshay Kakade, Atul Rajput, Krishna Kharate, Ravi Rajput, Sandeep Rajput, Vishal Rajput, Santosh Rajput, Vilas Rajput, Anil Rajput, Karsan Rajput, Deepak Rajput, Akash Rajput, Kaluram Rajput, Vasant Rajput, Amit Rajput, and Ramesh Rajput.
According to Sunil Shinde, the attackers had approached him a few days prior, informing him about the Ganesh Visarjan prayers and the planned DJ setup. Despite Shinde's plea due to the family's mourning period, the accused initially agreed not to proceed. However, they later returned and assaulted the family, leading to a violent altercation in Pune's Maval area.

Mumbai (PTI): Police have arrested a man and seized over 500 grams of heroin worth Rs 2.54 crore in the illicit market from him in Mumbai, officials said on Friday.
The police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) made the drug seizure in Santacruz in the western suburbs. The operation was conducted by the Kandivali unit of the ANC on Thursday as part of a special crackdown against drug trafficking in the area, they said.
Acting on specific inputs, an ANC team conducted a raid in Santacruz (East) and intercepted a man. During a search, the team recovered 508 grams of high-grade heroin from his possession, an official said.
The seized contraband, a highly addictive, opioid drug derived from morphine, is estimated to be worth Rs 2.54 crore in the international market, he informed.
Following the seizure, a case was registered against the man under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and he was formally placed under arrest in the early hours of Friday.
The police are currently investigating the source of the drug and trying to identify the intended recipients of the consignment, he said.
