New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has come under fire for allegedly sharing a misleading, clipped video of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The controversy began with Sitharaman's tweet, which criticized Gandhi for calling Hindus “violent” in a selectively edited portion of his speech.

She stated, “Sheer audacity of LoP @RahulGandhi to call everyone who calls himself Hindu as ‘hinsak’/violent shows @INCIndia’s hatred and contempt towards Hindus. Also consistent with Hindu hate of his INDI Alliance partners. Hypocrisy in claiming ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ exposed.”

In response, fact-checker and co-founder of Alt News Mohammed Zubair, accused the Finance Minister of deliberately misleading the public by sharing a clipped video. He tweeted, “The sheer audacity of Finance Minister ⁦@nsitharaman to mislead the nation by sharing clipped video.”

Further calling out the ruling party, Zubair tweeted, “The entire BJP IT cell including @amitmalviya and RW trolls are sharing an incomplete and misleading video. Now tell me who is 'क्लिप कटुआ/ClipKatua.'”

Earlier today, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi had launched a sharp attack on the ruling BJP, asserting that Hinduism is not about spreading fear, hatred and falsehoods.
