Mumbai, Aug 8 :  A series of loud explosions followed by a massive fire were reported at a refinery of the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) at Chembur in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai.

At least a dozen fire tenders and five jumbo tankers were battling the blaze, which along with a thick black smoke cloud could be seen from several kilometres away.

Several workers are feared trapped inside the plant, though there were no reports of casualties. The cause of the mishap is not known.

There are several residential colonies and slums around the BPCL plant.

Bengaluru (PTI): A passenger was held with hydroponic ganja worth Rs 1.4 crore at the Kempegowda International Airport here on his arrival from Malaysia on Thursday, officials said.

The accused, whose identity has not been disclosed by the customs officials, was arrested under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, they said.

"Bengaluru Customs intercepted a passenger arriving from Malaysia and seized 4 kg of hydroponic ganja, valued at Rs 1.4 crore," Custom officials said in a post on 'X'.
