Deoghar (PTI): Five members of a family were killed in Jharkhand's Deoghar district after their car fell off a bridge on Tuesday morning, police said.

The accident occurred when their vehicle fell from the bridge into the Siktia barrage, Deoghar Superintendent of Police Ajit Peter Dungdung said.

"Five members of a family were killed when their car fell off the bridge into the barrage while the driver of the SUV has been injured," the SP told PTI.

The accident took place when the vehicle was on its way to Giridih from Asansol Sankul village in Sarath, Deoghar.

"It occurred when a family member, an engineer by profession, started driving the vehicle to take selfies and lost control over the SUV," the police said.

Sakleshpur: In a tragic incident reported from the taluk, a 28-year-old man who was on the way to his pre-wedding shoot died as his car rammed into a roadside tree.

The deceased groom, identified as Manu LN, was a resident of Darbarpet in Lakkunda village, Belur taluk, and was to get married on May 10.

Manu was traveling in his car to get his bride for the shoot when he lost control over the car near Moogali of Sakleshpur taluk and the vehicle hit a tree beside the road.

Manu is learned to have died on the spot due to the impact of the collision.
