Thiruvananthapuram: V.S. Achuthanandan, senior Communist leader and former Chief Minister of Kerala, passed away at 3:20 PM on Monday, July 21, 2025, in Thiruvananthapuram. He was 101 years old.

In a statement, the Kerala government expressed deep sorrow over his death and announced that all government offices, schools, colleges (including professional institutions), public sector undertakings, and autonomous bodies will remain closed across the state on Tuesday, July 22, as a mark of respect.

The state will also observe three days of mourning from July 22. During this period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings.

Mangaluru/Kuala Lumpur: A delegation led by Dr. Muhammed Abdul Hakkim Azhari, Managing Director of Markaz Knowledge City, met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar bin Ibrahim on Friday.

The meeting was held at the Nasyrul Quran Centre in Putrajaya, near the capital city Kuala Lumpur. During the interaction, the team discussed key issues related to healthcare, education, and current affairs with the Malaysian Prime Minister.

Also present on the occasion were Dr. UT Ifthikar Fareed, Chairman of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions, along with several other dignitaries.
