New Delhi: A 35-year old woman who had earlier worked as a junior court assistant at the Supreme Court of India has filed an affidavit to the 22 judges of Supreme Court seeking an inquiry against Chief Justice of Indian Ranjan Gogoi, alleging that he had sexually harassed her while she was working at his home office, according to a report published in scroll.in
The affidavit that was submitted on Friday April 19 added “He hugged me around the waist, and touched me all over my body with his arms and by pressing his body against mine, and did not let go,” she wrote in an affidavit sent with a covering letter. “He told me ‘hold me’, he did not let go of me despite the fact that I froze and tried to get out of his embrace by stiffening and moving my body away” the report adds.
The Secretary General of Supreme Court of India, in an email reply to scroll.in rubbished the allegations calling them calling them “completely and absolutely false and scurrilous”.
The woman further alleges that her whole family is being tortured and harassed after the incident and her brother-in-law and husband both of whom are head constables in Delhi have been suspended since December 28, last year.
The affidavit claims that the incident took place on October 10 and 11 last year and seeks inquiry into the matter.
“By this letter, I am requesting the Hon’ble Judges of the Supreme Court to constitute a special enquiry committee of senior retired judges of the Hon’ble Supreme Court to enquire into those charges of sexual harassment and consequent victimization” it adds.

Washington (PTI): US President Donald Trump cares deeply about the US-India relationship, US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor said on Tuesday after meeting Trump at the White House.
“Back in the US for a few days. First stop, meeting with our GREAT President in the White House. The President deeply cares about the relationship between the US and India,” Gor said in a post on X on Tuesday evening.
Gor also posted a photograph of himself with Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the Oval Office.
Gor assumed the office of the US Ambassador to India in January this year. Earlier, he served as the Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office.
Gor also serves as the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.
