Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari laid to rest at ancestral burial ground in Ghazipur
Ghazipur: Gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari was laid to rest at his ancestral burial ground in Ghazipur on Wednesday. Ansari, a former MLA from Mau in Uttar Pradesh, passed away at a hospital in Lucknow on Tuesday where he was undergoing treatment for various ailments.
Mukhtar Ansari, who was lodged in the Banda jail, was rushed to the Rani Durgawati Medical College on Thursday night when his health deteriorated. He passed away at the hospital during treatment.
After the post-mortem on Friday, a convoy carrying the body of gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari left Banda for his native place in Ghazipur at around 5:30 p.m. amid heavy security.
The ambulance carrying Ansari's body was accompanied by police vehicles along the 400-kilometre route through several districts in Uttar Pradesh.
His body was taken to his ancestral home for people to pay their last respects before being laid to rest.

Delhi Police registers case in connection with doctored videos of Home Minister Amit Shah
New Delhi, Apr 28: The Delhi Police registered a case on Sunday after a complaint by the Ministry of Home Affairs in connection with the doctored videos of Union Home Minister Amit Shah being circulated on social media platforms, officials said.
The Special Cell has registered an FIR under various sections of the IPC and relevant provision of the IT Act, they said. Sources in the Special Cell said that now arrests are likely to follow across the country.
According to the complaint filed by Sinku Sharan Singh, DC, Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C), some doctored videos are being circulated on social media with "the intent of creating disharmony among communities which is likely to affect public tranquility and public order."
According to the complainant, links from which the videos were shared were also attached for further action.
A copy of the FIR was also sent to the IFSO unit of the Delhi Cyber Police.
