Gurugram: A heartwarming incident from Gurugram has gone viral, showcasing the compassion of a Rapido cab driver who assisted in the delivery of a baby mid-ride.
The incident came to light through a Reddit post by Rohan Mehra, who had booked the ride for his cook's heavily pregnant wife. The woman went into labor while en route to a hospital 12 kilometers away. The driver, identified as Vikas, quickly sprang into action, helping the woman deliver a healthy baby boy inside the vehicle.
Despite the urgency of the situation, Vikas remained calm and supportive. After the delivery, he ensured both mother and child were safely transported to the hospital. He charged only the pre-decided fare of ₹186, refusing any additional compensation for his humanitarian gesture.
Mehra expressed his gratitude in the post, praising the driver’s selflessness and requesting Rapido’s assistance in contacting him for a proper acknowledgment of his efforts.
The post quickly gained traction, with social media users commending Vikas’ compassion. Comments ranged from heartfelt appreciation to witty remarks, with one user noting, "The kind of Vikas (development) we need."
