Shimla (PTI): Six people died after a huge tree fell on several vehicles following a landslide near Gurudwara Manikarn Sahib in Himachal's Kullu district on Sunday, officials said.
A tree on the mountain opposite the gurudwara got uprooted following a storm and landslide. It fell on some vehicles parked on the road, killing six and injuring three others, they said.
The injured have been sent to Jari Hospital for treatment, the officials added.
Medical teams, police and revenue officials are present at the spot and coordinating rescue and relief operations, said Kullu's Sub Divisional Magistrate Vikas Shukla told reporters at the spot.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur have expressed deep grief over the incident.
CM Sukhu has directed the district administration to extend all possible assistance to the victims and their families.
He has also instructed officers to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured.

Bengaluru (PTI): The Special Court for Economic Offences on Wednesday remanded one of the accused in the gold smuggling case to judicial custody until April 7.
The ED had arrested Sahil Jain in connection with the case, in which Kannada film actress Harshavardhini Ranya, alias Ranya Rao, is the key accused.
Sahil Jain, a gold trader, is alleged to have helped Ranya Rao sell the smuggled gold.
Ranya is the stepdaughter of a DGP-rank officer, K Ramachandra Rao.
She was arrested with 14.8 kg of gold at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on March 3, shortly after returning from Dubai.
"The remand application filed by the IO (investigating officer) seeking judicial custody of Accused No 3 (Sahil Jain) is allowed. Accused No 3 is remanded to judicial custody at Central Prison, Bengaluru, until April 7, 2025," the order stated.
