Meerut: In a disturbing incident in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, three Hindu sadhus were allegedly brutally beaten and threatened by a mob on suspicion of being Muslim and associated with a child-kidnapping gang. The victims, identified as Gaurav, Gopi, and Sunil, all residents of Yamunanagar, Haryana, belong to the Nath sect and were mistaken as muslims by the assailants as claimed by fact checker Mohammed Zubair.

The ordeal began when locals accused the sadhus of disguising themselves as Hindu ascetics while actually being Muslims. The police later took the victims to the police station where an investigation revealed all allegations to be baseless. The police confirmed that the sadhus are devout Hindus and members of the Nath community, engaged in traditional practices like begging.

Despite the police releasing the innocent sadhus, the perpetrators who subjected them to the brutal assault remain at large. Shocking videos surfaced showing the sadhus being beaten with sticks after being interrogated about their religious identity and knowledge of Hindu scriptures like the Hanuman Chalisa.

Mohammed Zubair, reacting to the incident, highlighted the lack of action against the assailants by Meerut Police, who have also denied any hostage keeping or assault taking place.
