New Delhi: In an interview by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik, has made significant revelations regarding the Pulwama attack in 2019 and other crucial issues. The meeting, during which Malik shared his perspectives openly, shed light on lapses in government actions and decision-making processes.

During the conversation, Satya Pal Malik, criticized the government's handling of the Pulwama attack, blaming its own failures for the tragic incident. He disclosed that he had initially refrained from making certain statements fearing they might impact the investigation. However, he highlighted that there was no substantial investigation conducted, and the incident was politically exploited, especially by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"I told two channels that it was our fault but I was asked to not say this anywhere...I thought my statements might impact the investigation, but there was no investigation. It was used for the purpose of election. On the third day, PM Modi gave his speech where he used it politically," Satya Pal Malik said.

Malik asserted that the Pulwama attack could have been averted had the government responded to a request for aircraft. He revealed that the CRPF personnel were compelled to take a dangerous road due to a delay in acquiring the requested aircraft. He emphasized that the explosives used in the attack were sent from Pakistan and that the perpetrators had terrorist records, raising questions about intelligence lapses.

“The explosive-laden truck that attacked the CRPF vehicle was roaming in the area for around 10-12 days…the explosives were sent from Pakistan. The driver and the owner of the vehicle had terrorist records. They were arrested and then released several times. But they were not on the radar of the intelligence,” Satya Pal Malik said.

Addressing the issue of Adani's involvement in agricultural activities, Malik informed Rahul Gandhi that the government's failure to uphold its promise on Minimum Support Price (MSP) allowed Adani to manipulate crop prices. He stated that Adani's establishment of large godowns enabled him to purchase crops at low prices, with the intention to raise prices and sell them later. Malik emphasized the importance of implementing MSP to protect farmers from exploitation by corporate entities like Adani.

"Next year, their prices will increase and he will sell those. If MSP is implemented, a farmer won't sell his products to them at a cheaper rate," he said.

Rahul Gandhi, responding to the revelations, expressed his discontent with the government's handling of the Pulwama attack. He described the incident as an event rather than a solemn occasion, criticizing the presence of PM Modi and the lack of a respectful atmosphere.

Rahul Gandhi said as soon as he learnt about the incident, he went to the airport to pay his respects to the martyrs. “I was locked inside a room. I felt like it was an event. PM Modi was there. I had to fight my way to get out of the room. It was quite distasteful,” Rahul Gandhi said.
