Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh's outgoing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced on Tuesday that he accepts the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) decision to replace him with Mohan Yadav for the chief ministerial post in the state.

After being picked by the BJP on Monday, three-time MLA Mohan Yadav from Ujjain South assembly seat is set to become the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

"I am confident that under the leadership of CM Mohan Yadav, the BJP government will complete the ongoing projects in the state... In terms of progress and development, Madhya Pradesh will achieve new heights. I will keep supporting him,” said Shivraj Chouhan.

Highlighting his accomplishments during his 18-year tenure, Chouhan expressed confidence in the progress the state will witness under Yadav's leadership.

Regarding questions about contesting Lok Sabha elections, Chouhan dismissed them as imaginary and stated that he would abide by the party's decision.

Addressing the question of injustice, Chouhan said, "Where is injustice? The BJP kept an ordinary worker as chief minister for 18 years, no one sees the other side. BJP gave me everything, now the time has come to reciprocate and give back to the party. Why can't this be the thinking?”

Responding to his recent statement about not going to Delhi, he said, “The context that day was that the rest are in Delhi, will you go to Delhi. One thing I say with great humility is that I would rather die than go and ask for something for myself. That's not my job. That's why I had said that I will not go to Delhi.”

Earlier in the day, Shivraj Singh Chouhan met with emotional women supporters, some of whom were visibly moved to tears.

In the November 17 assembly polls, the BJP retained power in MP by winning 163 seats in the 230-member assembly, while the Congress finished a distant second with 66 seats.

Kolkata (PTI): The Election Commission on Friday ordered the immediate suspension of a joint block development officer (BDO) in poll-bound West Bengal and directed the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against her.

The poll body, however, did not mention the grounds for the action.

In a letter to the chief secretary of West Bengal, the poll panel said the action against Jyotsna Khatun, the joint BDO of Purba Bardhaman district's Khandaghosh, is based on a recommendation from the chief electoral officer of the state.

"The commission has agreed to the proposal and directs that Jyotsna Khatun be suspended and disciplinary action be initiated against her immediately," the EC stated in its letter to the West Bengal chief secretary.

Khatun had been notified as the Assistant Returning Officer (ARO) for the 259-Khandaghosh Assembly Constituency.

The poll panel has asked authorities to implement the order "with immediate effect" and submit a compliance report by 11 am of Saturday.

The letter also instructed the authorities to urgently propose a replacement for the vacant post.
