Infant dies after medical emergency on Jaipur-Bengaluru flight; emergency landing in Indore
Bengaluru: An Air India Express flight operating from Jaipur to Bengaluru made an emergency landing at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar International Airport in Indore on Tuesday following a medical emergency involving an infant passenger.
The infant, identified as Mohammed Abrar and aged around one year, reportedly suffered a choking incident while onboard the aircraft. When the child was brought to the hospital nearest to the airport, he was declared dead on arrival, The New Indian Express reported.
According to the report, the child was sick even before boarding. While on air, a cabin crew member spotted his mother crying and approached to help, when the full seriousness of the incident came to light. After some crew members tried to help, a doctor onboard who was travelling as a passenger tried to help as well, to no effect.
As the infant’s condition deteriorated, the flight crew declared a medical emergency and diverted the aircraft to Indore. Medical personnel were present on the ground upon landing, but the child could not be saved.
The exact cause of the choking is unclear. Further details are awaited.

4 workers die after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad
Dhanbad (Jharkhand) (PTI): At least four workers died after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Saturday, a police official said.
The incident took place at Moonidih coal washery in the command area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).
"Bodies of all four workers were dug out of debris during a rescue operation," Putki police station in-charge Waqar Hussain told PTI.
The incident took place when coal slurry was being loaded into trucks by workers, during which a large chunk of slurry fell and trapped several workers underneath, officials said.
The deceased have been identified as Manik Bauri, Dinesh Bauri, Deepak Bauri, and Hemlal Gope.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased and local villagers placed the bodies in front of the washery gate and began a protest.
They demanded compensation, jobs for dependents and action against those responsible for the incident.
Police and administration officials are trying to pacify the protesters, an official said.
