Dhule: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday while addressing a public rally in Dhule in Maharashtra said that he had strictly instructed his party-men to refrain from politicizing the Pulwama attack and stand united with the government.
Rahul targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he can't leave aside his public relations exercise even for five minutes.
"India's prime minister can't leave aside his public relations (exercise) even for five minutes. That is the difference between him and us," Rahul said.
"He (Modi) does the same (engage in PR exercise) at the war memorial opening," Gandhi said, referring to Modi opening an all-out attack on the Congress during the opening ceremony of the National War Memorial in Delhi recently.
He further added that he has in his 15 years of Political career never made a false promise and took a dig at Narendra Modi adding that the latter has never had fulfilled his promises in his political career.
Speaking of Rafale deal, Rahul questioned the assigning of deal to Anil Ambani while HAL was serving the country for 70 years and its product was safeguarding the country for 70 years efficiently.
“I don’t know what the mistake of HAL was. The deal went to a company which was registered merely a few days before the deal was bagged” he noted.
“After giving so much of money to some of his friends, now Modiji wants to grab lands from farmers and Adivasis and give it to those friends. The bill which was brought by UPA government safeguarding the rights of Adivasis on their land is in place. It says the government cannot take land from Adivasis. But Modiji doesn’t care”.
“I want to make it clear , we will not let the government to take away land from Adivasis and farmers at any cost. Congress party will defend the rights of Adivasis and farmers” Rahul added.
Speaking of Congress’ manifesto for general elections Rahul said “We have been working on Manifesto for last four months, and I assure you that we will not let people of the country down. We will immediately deposit the minimum income of people directly into their account, as soon as we come into power”.
He also addressed the issue of unemployment and compared the rate of creating employment in the country with China.
“The employment rate is at 45 years’ low, India is creating only 450 jobs in a day whereas China on the same day creates fifty thousand jobs for its citizen, we have to compete with them if we want to maintain pace with them in terms of development”.
Only Congress party can do that and we are hopeful from the people of this country, the farmers, the Adivasis and everyone that they will bring us back to the power for better and united India, unlike Modiji’s India which is divided into two. One for the poor and farmers the other for the rich and friends of Modiji” Rahul said.

Panaji (PTI): As part of a crackdown against tourist establishments violating laws and safety norms in the aftermath of the Arpora fire tragedy, Goa authorities on Saturday sealed a renowned club at Vagator and revoked the fire department NOC of another club.
Cafe CO2 Goa, located on a cliff overlooking the Arabian Sea at Vagator beach in North Goa, was sealed. The move came two days after Goya Club, also in Vagator, was shut down for alleged violations of rules.
Elsewhere, campaigning for local body polls, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal said the fire incident at Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub at Arpora, which claimed 25 lives on December 6, happened because the BJP government in the state was corrupt.
An inspection of Cafe CO2 Goa by a state government-appointed team revealed that the establishment, with a seating capacity of 250, did not possess a no-objection certificate (NOC) of the Fire and Emergency Services Department. The club, which sits atop Ozrant Cliff, also did not have structural stability, the team found.
The Fire and Emergency Services on Saturday also revoked the NOC issued to Diaz Pool Club and Bar at Anjuna as the fire extinguishers installed in the establishment were found to be inadequate, said divisional fire officer Shripad Gawas.
A notice was issued to Nitin Wadhwa, the partner of the club, he said in the order.
Campaigning at Chimbel village near Panaji in support of his party's Zilla Panchayat election candidate, Aam Aadmi Party leader Kejriwal said the nightclub fire at Arpora happened because of the "corruption of the Pramod Sawant-led state government."
"Why this fire incident happened? I read in the newspapers that the nightclub had no occupancy certificate, no building licence, no excise licence, no construction licence or trade licence. The entire club was illegal but still it was going on," he said.
"How could it go on? Couldn't Pramod Sawant or anyone else see it? I was told that hafta (bribe) was being paid," the former Delhi chief minister said.
A person can not work without bribing officials in the coastal state, Kejriwal said, alleging that officers, MLAs and even ministers are accepting bribes.
