"Join other party or start a new one" top Congress leader tells criticizing leaders within party
New Delhi: An NDTV report on Wednesday quoted Congress leader in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhry slamming the criticizing leaders from the party. Chaudhry has said those criticizing the Congress can join another party or start a new one instead of indulging in “embarrassing activities”.
Chaudhry also remarked that “such leaders” were close to the Gandhis and can raise their issues directly with the party leadership.
"If some leaders think that Congress is not the right party for them then they may set up a new party or can join any other party which they think is progressive and according to their interest. But they should not indulge in such embarrassing activities since it can erode the credibility of the Congress," Mr. Chaudhary told NDTV.
"Such senior leaders should not indulge in such embarrassing sweeping statements. They enjoy proximity to the Gandhi family. They can raise issues before the party leadership or in the right party forum," he added.
"If such leaders are serious about revamping the Congress party, then they should try to prove their mettle on the ground. Did they volunteer to work for the party during the recent Bihar elections," he asked.
On Monday, Kapil Sibal said in an interview to the Indian Express newspaper that the Congress was in decline, that the time for introspection was over and the party "must be brave and willing to recognize them."

4 workers die after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad
Dhanbad (Jharkhand) (PTI): At least four workers died after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Saturday, a police official said.
The incident took place at Moonidih coal washery in the command area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).
"Bodies of all four workers were dug out of debris during a rescue operation," Putki police station in-charge Waqar Hussain told PTI.
The incident took place when coal slurry was being loaded into trucks by workers, during which a large chunk of slurry fell and trapped several workers underneath, officials said.
The deceased have been identified as Manik Bauri, Dinesh Bauri, Deepak Bauri, and Hemlal Gope.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased and local villagers placed the bodies in front of the washery gate and began a protest.
They demanded compensation, jobs for dependents and action against those responsible for the incident.
Police and administration officials are trying to pacify the protesters, an official said.
