New Delhi: The arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has sparked a strong reaction from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), with party leaders claiming that it will be the final nail in the coffin for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Senior AAP leaders, including Delhi Cabinet Ministers and MLAs, observed a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar to protest Kejriwal's arrest, accusing the BJP of adopting a dictatorial attitude.
During the protest, senior leaders including Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel, Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla, and several Cabinet Ministers, expressed solidarity with Kejriwal. They condemned the BJP's actions and stated that the people would respond through their votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
AAP leaders emphasized that Kejriwal's arrest would not deter them and that the party's hunger strike had rattled BJP workers. They drew parallels between Kejriwal's arrest and Mahatma Gandhi's actions during the independence movement, suggesting that AAP's efforts would lead to the end of BJP's rule.
Sanjay Singh, recently granted bail by the Supreme Court, criticized the BJP for allegedly framing Kejriwal in a fake case. Singh claimed that protests in support of Kejriwal were gaining momentum globally, sending a message against dictatorial governance. He called for investigations into BJP leaders by central agencies like the CBI, ED, and IT departments.
During the protest, AAP workers paid tribute to national icons like Bhagat Singh, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and Mahatma Gandhi. They sang patriotic songs, recited poems, and displayed photographs of Kejriwal. Similar protests were organized by AAP state units across the country. The party announced plans to intensify its campaign by reaching out to voters door-to-door to deliver its message against the BJP.
