Chatra (Jharkhand), Nov 29: The main accused in the killing of a journalist of a Hindi daily last month was arrested from Palamau district, police said Thursday.

The accused was identified as Prasant Ji, the Area Commander of an ultra outfit Trutiya Prastuti Committee (TPC), police said.

The arrest was made in a joint raid conducted by the Chatra and Palamau district police on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police, Akhilesh B Beriar said.

Prasant Ji, who was involved in several ultra-related incidents in Chatra district, was active in Chatra and Hazaribag areas. He is a resident of Panki in Palamau district.

The TPC Area Commander was arrested when he came to meet his family members in Panki, he said.

Chandan Tiwari, a 32-year-old journalist of Hindi daily 'Aaj', was abducted by unidentified persons and beaten to death in Baltherwa village under Simaria police station of Chatra district in the last week of October.

Tiwari's family members had suspected the hand of the ultra group behind his killing.

Mumbai (PTI): An empty double-decker electric bus was gutted in a fire during servicing at a BEST depot in Mumbai's Kurla area on Sunday, officials said, adding that nobody was injured.

The blaze broke out inside the Kurla BEST bus depot near Kanakia Building at 4.14 pm, according to preliminary information from the Mumbai Fire Brigade.

The parked bus was unoccupied at the time of the incident.

Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, they said.

No injuries were reported in the incident, officials added.

The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking has hired 50 electric double-decker buses from Switch Mobility in its fleet of around 2,700 buses.
