Former Indian Cricketer Irfan Pathan who was recently criticized by a group of twitter users for one of his tweets, once again posted a vocal tweet on Friday speaking about unity and love. He was once again trolled by the right-wing social media trolls for the tweet.

The former left-handed all-rounder was on Friday also abused by a user named Sameeth Thakkar who is followed by the country’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. In the tweet, Pathan had spoken about unity and love. He had equated India as his ‘Makaan’ (meaning Home in Urdu) and had added that it was highly unlikely that a person will love his home and not some of the people living inside the house.

He is believed to be calling out on the racism, a topic which has been trending on social media in India after the USA saw uproar and protest over George Floyd’s death.

In the tweet, Pathan had wrote, “Mein mere makaan se mohabbat karta hoo lekin usme mein rehne wale sabhi logo se nahi...ye kese ho sakta hai? Or agar hota hai to nuksaan kiska hota hai? #unity #love”.

“How is it possible that I love my house but I don’t love some of the people who live in the house? Even if it is possible, then whose loss it is?” Pathan questioned in the tweet.

Reacting to the tweet, Thakkar joined the troll army and abused Pathan while asking him not to give out knowledge on the platform.

Thakkar did not stop here when noted Journalist and co-founder of Alt News, Pratik Sinha retweeted Thakkar’s abusive tweet with caption “Followed by @narendramodi” Thakkar went on to abuse Sinha as well.

This, however, is not the first instance wherein people followed by PM Modi have landed into controversy. Similar instances have been reported in the past and activists and journalists have repeatedly sought a reply from the PM, but PM Modi has officially not responded to such instances.

Pathan was recently trolled by right-wing Twitterati for his tweet on racism in India.

Mangaluru: Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair has accused right-wing website OpIndia of selectively naming only a few of the accused arrested in the murder case of rowdy-sheeter Suhas Shetty, while deliberately omitting the names of Hindu accused from their report.

In a tweet posted after police revealed the full list of those arrested, Zubair pointed out that OpIndia's tweet mentioned only Muslim names—Abdul Safwan, Mohammed Muzammil, and Mohammed Rizwan—while leaving out Ranjit and Nagaraj, who also face charges in the same case.

According to the police, a total of eight people have been arrested: Abdul Safwan, Niyaz, Mohammed Muzammil, Kalandar Shafi, Mohammed Rizwan, Adil Mahroof, Ranjit, and Nagaraj. Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal has confirmed that the murder was a result of a personal rivalry and revenge plot. Safwan, the main accused, allegedly feared that Suhas Shetty's gang would kill him, prompting him to plan the murder.

Zubair alleged that by leaving out the names of Ranjit and Nagaraj—both of whom are non-Muslims—OpIndia was attempting to maintain a narrative that the murder was religiously motivated. This goes against the facts presented by police, which made it clear that the incident was not communal in nature but a gang-related revenge killing.

Earlier, several right-wing handles on social media had claimed that Suhas Shetty was targeted because of his religious identity, using the murder to attack the Congress-led state government and alleging that Hindus were unsafe in Karnataka. The BJP too had demanded an NIA probe, calling the murder an act of terror carried out by "Jihadis."
