New Delhi: In the wake of BJP’s thumping victory in the assembly polls of 4 states, Shiv Sena leader and MP Sanjay Raut slammed Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi by saying that they must be given Padma Vibhushan or Bharat Ratna for “contributing” to BJP’s win.

“BJP achieved a great victory. UP was their state, still, Akhilesh Yadav’s seats have increased 3 times, from 42 to over 125. Mayawati and Owaisi have contributed to BJP’s win, so they must be given Padma Vibhushan, Bharat Ratna,” Raut was quoted by ANI in their official Twitter handle.

In the Tweet shared by ANI, quoting Raut, he pointed out BJP’s complete rejection by Punjab, while questioning the defeat of Uttarakhand CM, Pushkar Singh Dhami in Khatima and of two deputy CMs in Goa.

Raut reportedly stressed BJP’s defeat in Punjab despite the party’s tremendous campaign in the state and its victory in four states.

“The PM, Home Minister, Defense Minister, and everyone campaigned tremendously in Punjab; then why did you lose in Punjab? UP, Uttarakhand, Goa was yours already, which is fine. But you have lost more in Punjab as compared to Congress and Shiv Sena in UP,” he said.

BSP and AIMIM have been frequently alleged by the Opposition of being “B” teams of the BJP that divide anti-BJP votes; the claim which the two parties have denied admit.

Reacting to such allegations earlier on Thursday, Mayawati retaliated that BSP being BJP’s B-team is a falsehood and stressed that only her party is capable of defeating BJP.

Further, Owaisi countered the defeat by saying that minorities were used as mere “vote banks” in Uttar Pradesh.

The sweeping victory of BJP and its allies with a total of 273 out of 403 seats in the 2022 Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, a politically crucial state acquired nationwide significance and bewilderment leaving the fate of other parties to pass from sight.

Jaipur (PTI): A student preparing for the NEET examination allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in a rented room in Rajasthan's Sikar on Friday, police said.

According to the police, the student allegedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan using his sister's scarf while one sister was attending coaching classes and the other was in the bathroom.

He had appeared in the NEET UG exam 2026, which was cancelled due to paper leak, they said.

Udyog Nagar SHO Rajesh Kumar said that the deceased, identified as Pradeep Meghwal, was a resident of Kanika ki Dhani village in Jhunjhunu's Gudha Gaudji area.

He had been living in a rented room in Sikar's Jaldhari Nagar area with his two sisters while preparing for NEET over the last three years.

His elder sister later found him hanging and informed the landlord and police after bringing him down, officials said.

The SHO said the body was kept at SK Hospital mortuary, and a postmortem had not been conducted.

The student's father, Rajesh Kumar Meghwal, told police that Pradeep's NEET examination had gone well and the family was expecting him to score around 650 marks.

Former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot expressed grief over the incident and linked it to anxiety among students after reports of irregularities and paper leaks in NEET 2026.

Pilot said repeated paper leak incidents and cancellation of examinations were affecting students' mental health and demanded a time-bound investigation and strict action against those responsible.
