MHA asks states, UTs to ensure law and order during Hanuman Jayanti
New Delhi (PTI): Ahead of Hanuman Jayanti, the Centre on Wednesday asked all states to ensure the maintenance of law and order, peaceful observance of the festival, and to monitor any factor that can disturb communal harmony in the society.
The Union Home Ministry's advisory to all states and union territories came in the wake of communal violence in different parts of the country during Ram Navami last week.
"The state/UT governments are encouraged to ensure the maintenance of law and order, peaceful observance of the festival, and monitoring of any factors that could disturb communal harmony in society," the Home Minister's Office tweeted.
This year, Hanuman Jayanti is on April 6.

Over 20 injured as private bus overturns in Charmadi Ghat
Mangaluru (PTI): More than 20 passengers were injured after a private bus overturned at a bend in the Charmadi Ghat on Sunday, police said.
The accident occurred at a curve when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.
The passengers, all from Andhra Pradesh, were returning after attending a wedding in Dharmasthala.
Those seriously injured were shifted to Wenlock District Hospital, while others with minor injuries were treated at nearby private hospitals.
Residents assisted in the rescue operations. Traffic police from Belthangady visited the spot and are investigating the incident.
