New Delhi: Squadron Leader Mohana Singh has created history by becoming the first woman fighter pilot to join the Indian Air Force's elite 18 'Flying Bullets' squadron, which operates the indigenous LCA Tejas fighter jets. Singh's inclusion marks a significant milestone for women in combat roles in India.

Recently, Singh took part in the 'Tarang Shakti' exercise in Jodhpur, where she participated in a historic flight alongside the vice chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. While Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh flew solo in the LCA Tejas fighter variant, the vice chiefs of the other two forces operated the trainer variant with fighter pilots.

Mohana Singh has been stationed at the Naliya airbase near the Pakistan border after transitioning from flying MiG-21s to the LCA Tejas. Her involvement in high-level exercises and interactions with top defense officials highlights the growing role of women in combat aviation.

In 2016, Singh, along with Bhawna Kanth and Avni Chaturvedi, became one of the first women to be inducted as fighter pilots in the Indian Air Force, following the government’s decision to allow women into fighter jet cockpits.

Bengaluru (PTI): An FIR has been registered against Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu for his alleged remarks against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the statements he made in the US about the condition of Sikhs in India, police said on Thursday.

The case was filed based on a complaint by one of the officer-bearers of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, they said.

"The FIR was registered under sections 353 (2) (making, publishing or circulating a statement or report with false information, rumors, or alarming news), 192 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot- if rioting be committed; if not committed) and 196 (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at High Grounds police station here," a police officer said.

Attacking the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha over the statements about the condition of Sikhs in India, the Minister of State for Railways on Sunday said if those "manufacturing bombs" were supporting him, he is the "number one terrorist".

Condemning the statement, the Congress had said Bittu was talking "like a senseless man".
