Mumbai: The Mumbai Police have dismantled a high-profile sex racket operating from a hotel in Hiranandani, Powai, and rescued four women allegedly associated with the film industry.

Shyamsunder Arora, 60, was arrested during the operation, while authorities seized eight mobile phones and ₹3 lakh in cash from the hotel rooms. The rescued women have been moved to a shelter for support.

Acting on a tip-off, police contacted Shyamsunder by posing as customers. He reportedly demanded between ₹70,000 and ₹1 lakh per woman and sent pictures of four models before bringing them to the hotel. A trap was set outside the premises, and as he arrived with the women, police raided the location, leading to his arrest.

During interrogation, Shyamsunder disclosed the involvement of another individual from the Charkop area, whom the police are now searching for.

A case has been registered against Shyamsunder under s. 143(2) of the Bombay Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and ss. 4 and 5 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956 (ITPA).
