Murder accused on parole rapes 15-year-old girl in Sangli
Mumbai, Aug 24: A murder accused out on parole allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl in Maharashtra's Sangli city, police said on Saturday.
The accused, Sanjay Prakash Mane (34), was arrested in the morning, an official said.
Mane is an accused in a 2011 murder case and had come out on parole two months ago, he said.
The girl had stepped out to go to a shop around 9.30 pm on Friday when the accused waylaid her, forcibly took her to his house and raped her, the official said.
The girl informed her mother about the assault on Saturday, following which a complaint was lodged, and the accused was apprehended within two hours, he said.
Mane had allegedly also molested the girl last month, the official said.
The accused has been booked under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said.

Gym owner shot dead by bikers in South Delhi's GK
New Delhi (PTI): A 35-year-old man was shot dead by two bike borne assailants in south Delhi's Greater Kailash area on Thursday night, officials said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Ankit Chauhan said that an information was received regarding firing at GK 1, adding one person was injured and taken to the Max Hospital.
The police personnel on reaching the spot found some bullet projectiles and empty cartridges.
On enquiry, it was found that Nadir Shah, a resident of CR Park, had suffered bullet injuries, police said.
"The attackers came on a two wheeler, fired on him and ran away. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by his friends but was declared brought dead," Chauhan said.
Shah used to a run a gym here on a partnership basis. The investigations are on from all possible angles, he added.
The police has also not ruled out the possibility of a gang war.
