Bijnor: In Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, Muslim girls were reportedly expelled from Janta Inter College, Mahua, despite adhering to the school's dress code, due to wearing the hijab.
The students claimed that the principal, Shivendra Pal Singh, instructed them to remove their dupatta before attending classes.
This incident comes shortly after the Supreme Court of India recently partially stayed an order by a private college in Mumbai that had banned hijabs on its premises.
The Supreme Court had partially stayed the hijab ban until November 18, asserting that students should have the freedom to choose their attire.
