Mumbai: Sohit Mishra, the Mumbai bureau chief of NDTV, has resigned from the media organization amidst allegations that he was pressured by the channel's Editor-in-Chief, Sanjay Pugalia, to disrupt a press conference held by Congress former president Rahul Gandhi. The alleged instructions included creating a ruckus at the event and attempting to alter the narrative.

Notably, Editor-in-Chief Sanjay Pugalia joined NDTV after Gautam Adani's AMG Media Network acquired the media house.

Sources within NDTV have reported that Pugalia directed Mishra to pose questions to Rahul Gandhi regarding his apparent preference for foreign media, inquiring about his stance on the so-called "anti-national narrative," and questioning his perceived failure to promote the alleged corruption story surrounding the Rafale deal, as reported by Newslaundry.

Mishra, who had been associated with NDTV for seven years, reportedly declined to comply with these instructions and subsequently tendered his resignation. Although he was initially asked to serve a one-month notice period, his resignation was abruptly deemed effective immediately, and his last working day with NDTV was moved up to September 8, just one week into the notice period.

When contacted by Newslaundry, Mishra declined to provide a comment on the matter. However, a Congress representative who attended Rahul Gandhi's press conference stated that the event proceeded without any disruptions. In a video shared on YouTube after his resignation, Mishra revealed that he chose to leave NDTV before the situation "turned bitter." He also noted that in the past year, several other journalists had also resigned from the media organization.

Dhanbad (Jharkhand) (PTI): At least four workers died after being buried under coal slurry in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district on Saturday, a police official said.

The incident took place at Moonidih coal washery in the command area of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL).

"Bodies of all four workers were dug out of debris during a rescue operation," Putki police station in-charge Waqar Hussain told PTI.

The incident took place when coal slurry was being loaded into trucks by workers, during which a large chunk of slurry fell and trapped several workers underneath, officials said.

The deceased have been identified as Manik Bauri, Dinesh Bauri, Deepak Bauri, and Hemlal Gope.

Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased and local villagers placed the bodies in front of the washery gate and began a protest.
