New Delhi: A political storm has erupted in Delhi following allegations of assault leveled by Swati Maliwal, AAP Rajya Sabha MP, against Bibhav Kumar, personal secretary to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The controversy escalated with the release of a new CCTV footage from Kejriwal's residence that seemingly contradicted Maliwal's claims.

According to Maliwal's FIR, she was subjected to brutal assault by Kumar during a visit to the Chief Minister's residence. She detailed being kicked, punched, and verbally abused, resulting in severe injuries. However, the new CCTV footage portrays a different picture, showing Maliwal being escorted out without any apparent signs of injury. In fact, Maliwal is seen attempting to free herself from the policewoman's grip.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused Maliwal of colluding with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to discredit the party, particularly during the general election period. Conversely, the BJP has criticized Kejriwal's silence on the matter, labeling him as the "main criminal" for his alleged inaction during the assault.

During a recent press conference in Lucknow, Kejriwal refrained from commenting on the incident, deflecting questions and focusing on other issues alongside Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav and AAP MP Sanjay Singh. Singh acknowledged Kumar's misconduct but shifted blame onto the BJP, demanding accountability for women's issues under their governance.
