Thane (PTI): Police have detained two women after the body of a newborn girl was found in a duct of a building in Maharashtra’s Thane district, an official said on Friday.
Police suspect the baby died after she was dumped in the building duct in the Ambernath area on the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday.
Two women have been detained and a probe is underway to ascertain if the newborn’s mother is involved in the crime, the official added.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Friday, November 22, dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of suspended Janta Dal (S) leader Prajwal Revanna, who is facing allegations of rape and sexual assault.
The order was pronounced by a single-judge bench of Justice M. Nagaprasanna, who stated, "Dismissed." Revanna had sought bail in the event of his arrest.
The suspended leader has been charged under several provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including s. 376(2)(n) (repeated rape), s. 376(2)(k) (rape by a person in a position of control or dominance), s. 506 (criminal intimidation), s. 354(a) (sexual harassment), s. 354(b) (assault with intent to disrobe), and s. 354(c) (voyeurism). Additionally, he is charged under s. 66E of the Information Technology Act, which pertains to the violation of privacy.
An earlier bail plea filed by Revanna in a similar case was rejected by the Sessions Court on June 12.
