New Delhi, May 29: The total coal available in four thermal power plants in NCR was less than the required amount for a day's power generation at full capacity, according to data made public on late Tuesday by the Delhi government.
According to the data, 56,000 MT of coal was needed to run the four power plants at full power, but only 52,513 MT of coal was available as on Monday.
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the coal shortage.
Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain had raised the issue last week and also on Monday.

South African veteran Faf du Plessis and West Indies' Rovman Powell were bought for Rs two crore and Rs 1.50 crore by Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively, but seasoned India batter Ajinkya Rahane went unsold.
The unsold players can find buyers later in the day during the accelerated auction if their names are given by the franchises.
