New Delhi: Congress leader Pawan Khera has filed a defamation suit in the Delhi High Court against Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami for allegedly calling the Indian National Congress (INC) the “enemy of the nation” during a live broadcast on Operation Sindoor.

The remark, made during a segment aired while India was engaged in conflict with Pakistan, reportedly included the statement: "As of now, the party is with enemy of the nation. If you are a Congress voter, are you also an enemy of the nation?"

The matter was heard briefly on Monday by Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, who noted that Khera had filed the suit in his personal capacity, whereas the alleged defamatory remark targeted the political party. The Court directed Khera to amend his plaint accordingly and file a revised memo of parties.

Khera’s legal counsel agreed to make the necessary amendments.

Meanwhile, Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani appeared on behalf of Goswami and informed the Court that they had not yet received a copy of the suit. Justice Kaurav clarified that the Court would hear Goswami’s side once summons are officially issued.

The next date of hearing will be set after Khera files the amended plea.
