New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hoisted the national flag on the 73rd Independence Day at the ramparts of the historic Red Fort in Delhi.

Modi, dressed in a white kurta-pyjama and a colourful turban, was received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at the Red Fort. He then inspected Guard of Honour.

Before coming to Red Fort, he paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

Koppala: In a tragic incident, a man allegedly murdered his wife in Arakeri village of Kukanur taluk. The victim, identified as Geetha Bhavikatti, was reportedly killed by her husband, Devareddappa Bhavikatti, on suspicion of infidelity.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Saturday when Devareddappa attacked Geetha, leading to her death. It is further alleged that Devareddappa, with the assistance of his father, Mallaradyappa, performed the last rites late at night in an attempt to conceal the crime.

Following a complaint lodged by Geetha’s brother, the Kukanur police have arrested both Devareddappa and Mallardadyappa. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
