New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has responded to controversial remarks made by DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin regarding 'Sanatan Dharma' during a Council of Ministers meeting ahead of the G20 summit in Delhi. According to a report published by Theweek.in Modi also urged his ministers to avoid making comments on the ongoing 'India vs Bharat' controversy and to respond properly to Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks.

During the meeting, Modi emphasized the importance of sticking to the facts as per the Constitution and discussing the contemporary situation rather than delving into history. He directed his ministers to address the issue responsibly.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, who serves as Tamil Nadu's Youth Welfare Minister and is the son of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, had stirred controversy with his comments about Sanatan Dharma. He allegedly likened it to diseases like coronavirus, malaria, and dengue, stating that such practices should be eradicated rather than opposed.

His remarks triggered political outrage, with the BJP accusing the opposition INDIA alliance, of which the DMK is a major partner, of being anti-Hindu. Udhayanidhi later clarified his comments, stating that he did not call for the genocide of people following Sanatan Dharma but condemned the caste differences associated with it.

Further details about the Council of Ministers meeting are awaited.
