New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday wished Congress leader and his predecessor Manmohan Singh on his birthday.

"Best wishes to our former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji on his birthday. I pray for his long and healthy life," Modi tweeted. Manmohan Singh, a Rajya Sabha member and one of the Congress's top leaders, turned 87 today.

The renowned economist, credited with bringing in sweeping reforms in the 1990s, was prime minister for 10 years until the Congress was decimated by the BJP in 2014 and PM Modi took power for the first time.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also extended greetings to Manmohan Singh.

"Greetings and warm wishes to former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh ji on his birthday. I wish him good health and a long life," the defence minister said in a tweet.

Mumbai: An assistant commissioner of police was arrested by Worli Police in Central Mumbai under charge of flashing his private parts before a nine-year-old girl.

The arrested officer is reportedly under judicial custody, at present, according to a report by The Times of India.

The incident occurred in a garden on April 23, a police officer has said, adding that they arrested the ACP soon after the complaint was filed. So far, only one party has filed a complaint against the senior officer, the source has informed.

The senior officer has been charged with molestation and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police officer said.

Further investigation of the case is underway.
