New Delhi: When the nation is speculating what's next after the anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) uproar, Janata Dal (United) vice-president Prashant Kishor took to Twitter to suggest effective ways that can "stop the implementation of CAA and NRC [National Register of Citizens]".

Prashant Kishor mentioned two ways in his tweet on Sunday: One -- " Keep protesting peacefully by raising your voice on all platforms" -- and the other -- "Ensure most if not all of the 16 Non BJP CMs say NO to NRC in their states".

"Everything else important as they may is largely tokenism," Prashant Kishor tweeted.

Prashant Kishore has been vocal about his opposition to the amended Citizenship Act and the NRC, which he said is a "lethal combo" in the hands of government to "systematically discriminate and even prosecute people on religion"

He had even asked chief ministers from neutral and opposition parties to take a stand against the central government's controversial policies on citizenship and immigrant naturalisation.

"Non-BJP" chief ministers must save "the soul of India" after the Citizenship (Amendment) Act was approved by Parliament and signed into law this week, Prashant Kishor had said on Friday.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Bhagel are among the non-BJP chief ministers who have opposed the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Prashant Kishor has also condemned the violence at Delhi's Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI)during protests against the CAA.

Taking a dig at Delhi Police for clashing with Jamia students last week over anti-CAA protests, Prashant Kishor said, "Look at the non-violence, bravery, and professionalism of Delhi Police against the "alleged" lawbreakers!"

Though several JD(U) politicians have lashed out at Prashant Kishor over his stance, he has avoided making any retaliatory comments. He also told Hindustan Times that Nitish Kumar has asked him to not pay heed to such criticism.

The Citizenship Amendment act has raged widespread protests across the nation with lakhs of people including students and activists taking to streets their voices against the Narendra Modi government.

Recently, several parts of the country were under lockdown -- with internet snapped, metro stations closed, heavy police deployment and blocked roads. Public and private properties were also vandalised and set afire amid protests.

Several have lost their lives as protests turned violent in many states. More than 1,500 protesters have been arrested across India in the past 10 days and over 1,000 have been taken under custody.

Mumbai (PTI): Police have arrested a man and seized over 500 grams of heroin worth Rs 2.54 crore in the illicit market from him in Mumbai, officials said on Friday.

The police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) made the drug seizure in Santacruz in the western suburbs. The operation was conducted by the Kandivali unit of the ANC on Thursday as part of a special crackdown against drug trafficking in the area, they said.

Acting on specific inputs, an ANC team conducted a raid in Santacruz (East) and intercepted a man. During a search, the team recovered 508 grams of high-grade heroin from his possession, an official said.

The seized contraband, a highly addictive, opioid drug derived from morphine, is estimated to be worth Rs 2.54 crore in the international market, he informed.

Following the seizure, a case was registered against the man under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and he was formally placed under arrest in the early hours of Friday.

The police are currently investigating the source of the drug and trying to identify the intended recipients of the consignment, he said.
