Karnal: In a shocking development, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Harmeet Singh Dhillon Pathanmajra, arrested on rape and cheating charges, escaped police custody on Tuesday after allegedly firing at officers in Karnal.
According to reports, the MLA, who represents Sanour in Patiala, was being taken to a local police station when he and his aides opened fire, injuring one policeman. Amid the chaos, Pathanmajra allegedly ran over another officer with a vehicle before fleeing in a Scorpio SUV with his associates. A Fortuner, reportedly used in the escape, was later seized by authorities.
Police teams are pursuing him, and a manhunt is underway.
Pathanmajra had been arrested after an FIR was filed by a Zirakpur-based woman, accusing him of misrepresenting himself as divorced before entering a relationship with her. She accused him of continued sexual exploitation, threats, and sending "obscene" material to her.
The legislator, however, claimed the case was politically motivated. After the FIR was filed, he went live on Facebook, accusing the AAP’s Delhi leadership of “illegitimately ruling Punjab” and targeting him for speaking out. “They can file FIRs against me, I may end up in jail, but my voice will not be suppressed,” he said.

"If it is found that children are being made to dance to obscene songs, appropriate action will be taken against the headmaster or management of such school," it added.
The department also listed certain measures in this regard, which include: strictly prohibiting children from being made to dance to obscene songs during educational and cultural programmes; selecting songs that are inspiring, positive, instilling national pride in children and reflecting the greatness, dignity, values, culture, and morality of the state.
Stating that the school headmaster and management are responsible for selecting songs and dances for cultural programmes, it said, they should also ensure that students wear decent clothes in dance or cultural programmes.
