New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has reacted to the expunging of several portions of his maiden speech as Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. On Tuesday, Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and defended the truth of his statements, which were removed from the parliamentary records on the orders of the Speaker.

"In Modi ji's world, truth can be expunged. But in reality, the truth can't be expunged. I said what I had to say, that is the truth. They can expunge as much as they want. Truth is truth," Rahul Gandhi told reporters before entering the Lok Sabha during the ongoing Parliament session.

The expunged segments of Gandhi's speech covered contentious topics such as the treatment of minorities, the NEET row, and the Agnipath scheme.

The portions expunged also include his comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP, and the RSS. In his first address as the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi had accused the leaders of the ruling party of dividing people on communal lines, drawing massive protests from the treasury benches.

RJD leader Manoj Kumar Jha also reacted on portions of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha speech being expunged and said "You can remove a portion from (House) the proceedings, but not from the memory. He (Rahul Gandhi) said that no individual or organisation can be a contractor of a religion."
