Rs 10 crore online scams unearthed, 38 arrested
Jaipur (PTI): Police have arrested 38 people involved in a nationwide cyber fraud network and unearthed online scams worth over Rs 10 crore under ‘Operation Mule Hunt’, an official said on Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police Manish Kumar said the arrests were made over the past 15 days as part of a crackdown on rising cyber fraud cases.
"In the last 15 days, 38 accused have been arrested from different areas of Dungarpur district under Operation Mule Hunt," he said.
According to police, the accused were involved in online fraud cases registered across the country and confessed to duping people of crores of rupees.
Officials said they have registered 17 cases against the accused so far.
The detected fraud amount has exceeded Rs 10 crore, which may increase as the investigation progresses, they said.
Police said the accused operated from different parts of the country and abroad, including Dubai, luring victims through investment, trading and escort service schemes.
During the operation, police recovered 73 mobile phones, 136 SIM cards, a luxury jeep and several electronic devices from the accused.
Officials said multiple teams were formed to investigate the network, and bank accounts linked to the accused and their associates are being scrutinised.
The SP advised people not to share sensitive details such as bank account information, Aadhaar, PAN or ATM details over phone calls or mobile applications, and to avoid falling prey to fraudulent offers.
Police said an investigation is underway.

Gadkari flags energy security concerns, says India eyes 100% ethanol blending
New Delhi: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that India should aim to achieve 100 per cent ethanol blending in fuel in the near future, , citing the need for energy self-reliance amid global uncertainties.
Speaking at a green transport conclave, Gadkari was quoted by NDTV Profit as saying that rising tensions in West Asia have underscored the risks associated with dependence on imported fossil fuels. He noted that India currently meets about 87 per cent of its oil requirement through imports, with an annual outlay of nearly ₹22 lakh crore.
“Given the ongoing global situation, it is necessary for us to become self-reliant in the energy sector,” he said, emphasising the need to scale up alternative fuels and biofuel production.
India has already introduced petrol blended with 20 per cent ethanol, launched in 2023 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with vehicles now being adapted to run on E20 fuel with minor modifications.
Countries such as Brazil have adopted higher ethanol blending, offering a possible model as India expands its biofuel programme.
Gadkari was quoted by NDTV Profit as saying that reducing production costs to around one dollar per kilogram would be key to making India a global exporter of energy.
