Mumbai: A staff working at music director Pritam Chakraborty's office in Mumbai allegedly stole cash worth Rs 40 lakh, prompting Chakraborty to file a police complaint.
The cops have identified 32-year-old Ashish Sayal as the accused and have formed teams to track him down. The incident was reported by the composer's manager who informed authorities immediately, as reported by News18 on Sunday.
The robbery took place on February 4 around 2:00 p.m. at Pritam Chakraborty’s music studio, Unimus Record Pvt. Ltd, which is located in Goregaon. Pritam Chakraborty's manager Vineet Chedda received a bag containing Rs 40 lakh in cash from a production house representative on the day of the incident. He allegedly kept the case in the trolley bag and went to Chakraborty's house in the same building. Sayal, Ahmed Khan, and Kamal Disha were reportedly present at the studio.
After Chedda returned, he found that the trolley bag containing the cash had disappeared. Upon inquiry, he was told that Sayal was delivering the bag to Chakraborty's residence. When he attempted to contact the suspect, the latter's phone was switched off.
“On the music composer’s advice, he approached the police station and lodged a complaint. A case of theft has been registered, and we are trying to trace the suspect. We are reaching out to his relatives and also working on leads through his mobile phone’s call data record," the publication quoted an officer as saying.
