Kozhikode: Samreen Yusuf earned the rare distinction of becoming the first student from Kerala to be awarded the Doctor of Medicine (DM) degree in Paediatric Emergency Medicine when she recently received the degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur.
She is also only the second Indian to get the degree in the subspecialty programme, reports The Hindu, adding that the option of study is available only at Raipur among the AIIMS.
A native of Kozhikode, Dr. Yusuf is the daughter of Dr. Nasser Yusuf, a thoracic surgeon, and Nargis. After her schooling at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in the city, she completed her MBBS from the Government Medical College, Mysuru, and her post-graduation in Paediatrics from the Government Medical College (Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Medical College), Raipur.

Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.
There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.
The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
