Seven teachers suspended over fake disability certificates in Maharashtra's Nanded
Nanded (Maharashtra) (PTI): A headmaster and six other school teachers have been suspended for allegedly availing disability quota benefits without submitting the valid certificates in Maharashtra's Nanded district, officials said.
The primary education department launched a verification drive in September last year to identify teachers using fraudulent disability documents.
It was found that the disability certificates of seven teachers were not recorded in the issuance register maintained by the district civil surgeon's office, an official said.
The findings also indicated the percentage of disability in these cases was below 40 per cent, thereby rendering them ineligible for the benefits, he said.
In one instance, the headmaster of a Zilla Parishad (ZP) school had allegedly been granted disability concessions despite not submitting any relevant certificate, the official said.
Among the other six teachers, some had not submitted the relevant certificates, while others presented documents found not to have been issued by the district civil surgeon, he said.
Following the probe, ZP Chief Executive Officer Meghna Kavali suspended the seven teachers with immediate effect on Monday.

Vertex receives ₹1.93 crore Beyond Bengaluru grant from Karnataka government
Mangaluru: Vertex Managed Workspace, an IT infrastructure and managed workspace platform operating outside Bengaluru, has received a ₹1.93 crore grant under the Government of Karnataka’s IT Policy as part of the Beyond Bengaluru initiative.
The grant was released by the Department of Electronics, IT & BT and facilitated by the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission. It recognises Vertex’s role in developing enterprise-grade IT infrastructure and supporting job creation in Mangaluru.
Vertex currently supports more than 2,250 professionals across six managed workspace locations in the city and hosts over 40 companies, including global enterprises and global capability centres. The company has been operating in Mangaluru for several years and is considered a key player in the city’s growing IT and GCC ecosystem.
According to the company, its scale of operations has contributed to positioning Mangaluru as one of Karnataka’s major technology clusters outside Bengaluru, aligning with the state’s efforts to promote distributed growth.
Commenting on the grant, Gurudatta Shenoy, Managing Partner at Vertex Managed Workspace, said the support reflects recognition of efforts to strengthen IT infrastructure and create employment opportunities beyond the capital. He said the company remains focused on building sustainable technology ecosystems in emerging cities across the state.
Vertex is currently expanding its operations in Mangaluru and plans to scale up to 6,000 workstations in the coming period, as part of its long-term growth plans under the Beyond Bengaluru framework.
