New Delhi: Popular singer Shantanu Mukherjee, also known as Shaan by his stage name, slammed trollers who criticised him for wishing “Eid Mubarak” dressed in Muslim Attire. On April 22, singer Shaan shared a picture quoting Eid wishes, on Instagram wearing a skull cap as he wrote "Eid Mubarak to You and Your Family."

In the meantime, his beautiful gesture triggered some right-wingers who flocked social media platforms trolling him for wishing Eid Mubarak. They criticized him for dressing up in Muslim attire despite being a Hindu.

“I have to unfollow u”, a netizen said.

“Ye muslim kab se ban gya, i thought he is Bengali”, another commented. (When did he become Muslim, i thought he is Bengali)

However, Shaan reacted to the hate and criticism received by trollers. In a video posted by Shaan soon after posting the ‘Eid Mubarak’ post, he said, he was disappointed by the mindset of trollers and did not expect this.

In the video, Shaan said he initially thought about ignoring the hateful comments but they continued, which led him to create the video to address and clarify the situation.

He clarified that the photo was captured three years ago from his music video titled Karam Karde.

“Usme ye Look Tha.. toh socha it goes with the occasion.. bas itni si baat” (It had this look, so I thought it goes well with the occasion), he wrote.

He further appealed to people to change their mindset and respect all religions. He also claimed that despite being a Hindu and proud Bhramin he was always taught to respect and celebrate all festivals.

"Since childhood, I was taught to celebrate all festivals and respect every religion. This is what I believe in and this is what every Indian should believe in too. Baaki aapki soch aapko Mubarak,"the singer said.

He referred to India as the “Mother of Democracy” and requested people to not have polarized thoughts as it only causes damage.

Sambhal(UP) (PTI): Security was stepped up across the district ahead of Friday prayers and the likely submission of a report on the survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid here by the court-appointed ASI team following claims that a temple once stood at the spot.

Tension has been brewing in Sambhal since November 19 when the court-ordered survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid was carried out following claims that a Harihar temple previously stood at the site.

Divisional Commissioner of Moradabad, Aunjaneya Kumar Singh said security measures have been reinforced at sensitive religious sites in the area and around the court in Chandausi.

The lawyer for the Hindu side, Gopal Sharma, said the court hearing on Friday will see the plaintiff's side present their reply, and the court commissioner is expected to submit the findings from the survey conducted on the disputed site.

"Our further action will be determined after the survey report is reviewed," Sharma said.

Shakeel Ahmed Warsi, the lawyer representing the Muslim side, said they are fully prepared to present their case.

"We have all the necessary evidence, and we will first request a copy of the survey report before strongly presenting our side in court," Warsi stated.

Violence erupted on November 24 as protesters gathered near the mosque and clashed with security personnel, leading to stone pelting and arson. Four people died and scores of others were injured in the violence.

The situation remains tense, and local authorities are closely monitoring the developments to maintain peace and order.
