New Delhi: In what has come as a shocking development, the Tata Steel Ltd plant in Odisha's Meramandali reported steam leak following which some of the workers at the plant have been shifted to hospital, the company said in a statement. The company however did not reveal the number of people who were affected in the accident.

"We are saddened to report an accident at the BFPP2 power plant due to escape of steam at Tata Steel Meramandali Works in Dhenkanal, Odisha," Tata Steel said in the statement.

"The accident occurred at 1 pm today during the course of the inspection work and has affected few people working at the site, who were immediately shifted to the occupational health centre inside the plant premises and then to Cuttack for further treatment, as a precautionary measure, in the company's ambulance, accompanied by doctor and paramedics," it added.

Chandigarh (PTI): Punjab Police on Saturday said they have arrested an associate of gangster Arzoo Bishnoi.

The accused, whose identity has not yet been disclosed by police, was wanted in a murder case in Rajasthan and carried a bounty on his arrest.

In an X post, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said, "In a major breakthrough, Anti-Gangster Task Force Punjab apprehends an associate of gangster Arzoo Bishnoi (Lawrence gang) linked to an inter-state criminal network, and recovers one .32 bore pistol with 3 live cartridges."

Yadav said an investigation is underway to establish the forward and backward linkages in the case.
